The football team had a bye this past week.

And after another frustrating loss, at the hands of Louisville this time, I took one as well.

But as we’re back into another game week, lets wrap up the Cards with a look at which true freshman saw action in the game as well as how the class has performed on the field to date.

For the first time all season, more than three true freshman played in the game as four saw the field against Louisville.

Will Bettridge (Kicker)

Bettridge continued the placekicking duties for the Hoos with a clean game against Louisville. Accounting for 5 of UVA’s 17 points, Bettridge was 1 for 1 on field goals and 2 for 2 on extra points. The field goal was a career long 47 yarder.

On the season, Bettridge is now 2 for 2 on field goal attempts. He’s also 6 for 7 on extra point attempts.

Stevie Bracey (Linebacker)

After a two game absence from the field, Bracey was back in action against Louisville. Against the Cardinals, he resumed his usual place on special teams.

Bracey did not record any stats against Louisville. He has not recorded any stats on the season yet either.

This was Bracey’s fourth game played on the season. Playing in one more game will remove his ability to redshirt for the 2022 season.

Xavier Brown (Running Back)

It was another quiet game for Brown from the running back position. Against Louisville, Brown received 4 carries that translated into 7 yards gained (1.75 yards per carry). Brown’s long rush on the day was for 7 yards. He was not targeted in the passing game.

On the season, Brown now has 27 carries for 135 yards (5.00 yards per carry) with a long rush of 38 yards. He’s also caught 2 passes for 8 yards (4.0 yards per catch) with a long catch of 7 yards.

Brown no longer qualifies for a redshirt for the 2022 season.

Sean Wilson (Wide Receiver)

Wilson continues to expand his role on the team as he’s now in the wide receiver rotation as well as playing on special teams.

Against Louisville, Wilson was not targeted in the passing game. However, he did make 1 tackle on special teams.

On the season, Wilson has no targets or catches and 1 tackle.
